Contacts Plus XL is an organization-based app for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad that allows you to better manage your contacts, group your contacts in a variety of ways, and send group emails.
This app is great for people who have an extensive list of contacts. It allows you to group contacts by last name, birthdate, company, job title, and more. It also allows you to look through contacts using cover flow, which is a great feature if you have pictures associated with your contacts. The layout of the app is much more user-friendly than the regular iPhone contacts app. Lastly, contacts can be synced with Friendsync; this enables you to view contact information that you might see on Facebook profiles, such as contacts’ interests and birthdates.
Without syncing pictures to the contacts in your list, the cover flow is useless and not fun. It does not add much past some interesting organization features to the iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad. You cannot send mass text messages like you can email with this app. Lastly, people with long lists of contacts can just use Spotlight to search contacts, making this app not very useful.
THE BOTTOM LINE:
A great endeavor that needs some work such as SMS-capability and more user friendliness regarding group viewing, this app provides just a small bit of smoke and mirrors on top of a basic app already on the iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad.
