Sniper-X

The Description:
In Sniper-X you get to become a professional sniper.  You were discharged from the army through no fault of your own, and now you are a strictly-business mercenary whose only goal is to take out the enemy unscathed and undetected.

The Good:
Sniper-X cleverly utilizes the motion sensing capacities of the iPhone to better simulate the experience of using a sniper rifle.  More specifically, in this sniper simulator, steady hands are the name of the game.  Tilt the iPhone in different directions to move your crosshair throughout each scene.  Subtle movement is key in order to be more accurate and avoid the crosshair chaotically flying all over the screen.  Once the crosshair is aimed directly at your seemingly tiny opponents in the distance, you breathe in and keep your hands steady just like a real sniper to successfully take out the enemy.  The graphics, while clearly not trying to be realistic, are pleasantly artistic.

The Bad:
While the motion sensing method of game play is clever and appropriate for the subject matter, it can be somewhat frustrating.  The main reason for this is that the crosshair is constantly moving and shaking even when your hands are completely still.

The Bottom Line:
Sniper-X is a more realistic sniper simulation when compared to other applications such as Distant Assassin.  Although the aiming system can be frustrating and difficult to get the hang of, the game is clever and fun all around.
